Hello my name is Mary Butts. I am Vietnam Era Veteran of the United States Army.

I would like to introduce my husband, Harold Butts, a Vietnam Combat Veteran of the United States Air force.

We would like to introduce Dignity's Alcove.

Our Mission

Create effective outreach and support for Homeless Veterans in the
Northern California Central Valley by:
Providing individualized supportive service needs to homeless veterans.  
Our services are developed to effectively help homeless veterans break
the cycle of homelessness. Program involvement is structured by phase
levels and promotes productive, advancing motivation and instruction
to help find permanent housing, secure a substantial income and
address the specific challenges that veterans face, including but not
limited to mental illness, physical illness, and substance abuse.

Our Commitment

I and my husband were once the homeless Veteran that sought refuge in a substance that only reduce the pain and trauma of war.  Both of us were lost, not knowing who we could talk to, where we could go, how can we get back to our once happy lives.  Thankful we came across a Veteran Outreach representative that talked to us about transitional housing.  Is if it were to good to be true, Harold and I could see the light.  We were finding ourselves motivated to see the next day and accomplish new challenges. 

 Because we were so appreciative we decided to bring these services to San Joaquin County. 

 Dignity's Alcove is the only service of its kind in San Joaquin County.  It is our commitment to give Veteran's a structured program with phase levels.  Each phase promotes:
Individual productivity
Advancing personal motivation
Instruction to help find permanent housing,
Secure a substantial income
Address specific challenges that the Veterans face
Recognize and address mental illness
Recognize and address physical illness
Recognize and address substance abuse
Rebuild and Strengthen Self-Esteem
Rebuild and Strengthen Self-Respect
